February 2012 Round #2

1. What reading/learning did I do this month? (books, blogs, magazines, ebooks, podcasts, classes, etc.)

I read:

11/22/63 by Stephen King. A very good read. Finally a time travel book done right!

2. What entertainment did I watch/listen to this month? (movies, tv shows, plays, music, concerts, etc.)

A few more Netflix and some cable movies. We watched “The Rum Diary,” “Moneyball,” “Win Win,” “Horrible Bosses”, and “I Don’t Know How She Does It”. My favorite of all of them was definitely “Moneyball.” I can see why it got nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. Even if you are not interested in basebell, it sucks you in to the story line and makes you want the team to win.

3. What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?

David and I spent an afternoon with Mae Mae and the Winslow cousins early in the month. We went as a family to a housewarming/going away party at the Blasini’s before Jorge was deployed with the air force. And I was able to get out a girl’s day lunch on leap day with my good friend Katella.

We also got to celebrate with the Tuck family for their little one’s first birthday. It was when E was just a few weeks old and I got to hold her and get her baby dust all over me. A few days later, David was made and now we have our little one! Elizabeth’s baby dust worked!

I also got a chance to get out and do a photo shoot with the Click Monkey’s meetup group. There were three models to work with in a photo studio with lots of lights and modifiers to work with. I can definitely see my skill improving after each of these events.

4. What special or unusual purchases did I make?

In preparation for going back to work, I had to buy lots of breastfeeding pump accessories. I hope they prove to be worth it and I can continue to pump while at work!

5. What illnesses or health concerns did I have?

Thankfully, we have all stayed away from cold bugs, but with all the nasty winds lately, all three of us have suffered from allergies.

6. What were my accomplishments this month?

We found a day care and paid our deposit for David’s future attendance. It was a trying task, but I am thankful we found a place we are ok with and that had an infant opening.

7. What were my disappointments this month?

While it was an accomplishment to find a day care, it also a disappointment to know I have to take him there very soon. I cry almost daily thinking of letting my little man go and how much I will miss him.

10. Anything else noteworthy to include?

David had his two month check up at his doctor on the 15th. He was all smiles and flirty with the nurses and his doctor (who is a female), until, of course, it came time for his shots. But he was still a trooper and mommy cried a LOT more than he did. He weighed in at 11 pounds, 7 ounces and was 23 3/4 inches long. He is very tall and thin with a big head!
