NSD 2009 Layouts - Finally!

I was finally able to finish some of the layouts I started at our National Scrapbook Day weekend event. This is the only one I actually finished while I was there...

And these I started but couldn't quite get everything done. These are all an attempt to catch me up on my 12-of-12 layouts:

I did December's in a baseball card holder, so this is the scan of the front and back side of the holder.

Hopefully Melanie and I can plan another scrap night soon... If it took me all this time to finish just four layouts, I am doomed!

And the week continues....

This week continues to grow in excitement for me. I got a kick lately of submitting for magazines and design teams and figured nothing would happen for either, but at least I was inspired to start creating for submitting. So I get the notice on Wednesday that the magazine I submitted to wants to publish me, then I get the notice today that I've been accepted on a design team!!!

I will begin creating soon for A Page in Time Scrapbook kit club. I have been a member receiving their kits for close to a year now so I know I already love what they have to offer. It will be exciting (and a challenge!) to actually sit down and use some the stuff and get some layouts done - instead of just hoarding it and saving it for that special rainy day! =)

So look out for more of that soon!

'Til next time.....

Officially to be Published scrapper, and A Page in Time Scrapbook design team member

ETA: Since the CK magazine is already out, I can finally add the layout that was published. This is my August 12-of-12 layout, officially published in CK Magazine!

12-of-12 - September 2008

After three hours trying to get my sewing machine to work and wasting a whole spool of thread, I decided to do this digitally. Once in Photoshop, I was done within 30 minutes!!! When will I learn my lesson?

Here is my September 12-of-12:

A scraplift of a layout by Lisa Truesdell from the latest Scrabooks Etc. mag.

Adobe Photoshop CS2, Paper is Ali Edwards from her CK kit of the month digital kit, fonts are: Ck_Ali's Handwriting, Hightower Text, and Jane Austen

The journaling around the photos reads:

"Photos from left to right, top to bottom: My Mac face-paint.. or make-up, the book I finished reading again today - The Magus, paperwork at work for the open enrollment meeting, big ol’ photo o’ me, My busy calendar from the week, a blog post about today being the tenth anniversary of my first date with jonathan, toys given by the EAp stress management trainer, the stress-relievers board from the EAP class, a card I made at a stamping event that night, the book I started - Twilight, another card made that night, and stamping stuff I used at the event."

June 12-of-12

A busy Father's Day today with my Dad's flight on the Warbird airplane... hopefully I can remember to post some photos soon.

Until then, here is my June 12-of-12, totally scraplifted the layout from Marianne. I liked the idea of keeping with a theme for my 12-of-12, not to mention, I was too lazy to tote my camera around all day. Sooooo, the result of which is a 12-of-12 dedicated to the current entertainment in my life.

There's titles in all the photos but they are hard to read, so here is what they are:

Recent Books Read: Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens, Wuthering Heights (for the third time) by Emily Bronte, and Queeen of Hearts by Wilkie Collins

Favorite Summer TV Shows: Deadliest Catch, So You Think You Can Dance, and My Boys

Recently Played on my DVD: Rent Soundtrack, Frosty, Heidi, and Frank Podcasts, and Flogging Molly

Current Netflix DVD Rentals: Martian Child, Gone Baby Gone, and We Own the Night

12-of-12 - May 2008

At last! My May 12-of-12 layout!

Journaling Reads:

A 12-of-12 that had me obsessed with numbers!

72 degrees - the weather was awesome.
$120.90 - the Dow Jones is down but costs for basic goods continues to rise at record rates
$0.42 - announced on the news this morning, yet another rise in the cost of the postage stamp
7.9 - another major news story today was the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit China. The aftermath has been devastating to watch. Over 30,000 lives have been lost with many still missing and millions of Chinese residents without any resources.
80 Business Loop - I started my new job today at the
Regional Transit District. I was worried about having to take the freeway again, but the drive turned out not to be too bad
28th & G - The location of my new office
$3.41 - the cost of a loaf of bread today. Prices keep rising for resources like milk and eggs, as well as gasoline which continues to hit record prices. The price for a gallon regular unleaded today at the local station was $3.99.
245 images - Jonathan and I participated in a Cast for Kids charity event on Sunday. There were 245 images to be edited from the event that I started working on today.
10! - Dancing with the Stars is the most watched show on television right now. Celebrities compete with professional dance partners and the judges scores combined with the viewers call in votes determines the winner over several weeks. I hardly watch it, but this week they were only a week away from the finals and the dancing starts to get good, so I decided to tune in! Christy Yamaguchi, an Olympic figure skater by trade, is a favorite to win this season, no surprise, she received a 10 from one the judges in this photo.
$145 - I have NO idea why I had so much money in my wallet. I started organizing my purse and found it all. It was my own mini-lottery!
6 - My six new scrapbook albums and new organization system for filing my pages.
1 - One Fairly decent self-portrait.

Accomplishment

I started about 8 different pages this weekend and didn't finish anything! So it felt good to finally get something done last night. I am so loving participating in the 12-of-12 challenge. Here is the actual layout I produced for the last two months worth of my 12-of-12 photos...

12-of-12 - April 2008

Yesterday was the 12th and I was excited to participate in my second 12-of-12 challenge. It was a Saturday this time and no ordinary day. It was Emily's 8th birthday and Connie and Randy hosted a birthday party for her, with your truly making her cake again. She's been really into Hannah Montana lately so I tried to do something Hannah Montana-esque. It was also the first time the Winslows and Auntie Michelle got to meet Isabella so there was lots of "pass the baby" played!

The photos are mostly of me making the cake, the finished product, and the fun times we all had at Emily's birthday event.

12-of-12 - March 2008

So I was struggling with things to write or even scrapbook about since the kids are no longer with us. All of our photos and all of my posts over the last few months have contained photos of them. So when I saw the 12-of-12 challenge, I knew it as perfect timing! So here is my first post-failed adoption blog post, my March 12-of-12 thanks to Cathy Z for her awesome template!...

Left to right:

ROW 1
1. I love Spring in Nor Cal. There's about three weeks a year around this time that all the cherry blossoms bloom and there are white flowers EVERYWHERE!
2. Love Love LOVE these new shoes. I got them last week and wore them on the 12th
3. A Gorgeous sunrise on my way to work
4. A postcard from Jonathan's parents from their vacation. I think it's funny how I started putting our return address to them as "The Other Ashcraft's" a few years ago and it stuck. Jonathan thinks it's funny that live in the desert and of all places to choose to vacation in, they go to Death Valley

ROW 2
5. Girl Scout Cookie Time... mmmmmm, thin mints!
6. My new view for 2 hours a day, my rapidly inclining odometer
7. Though the mirror was embarasingly dirty, I absolutely loved this self-portrait and had to include it. It totally conveyed everything that was on my mind at the time... and that was how much I was looking forward to our adoption support group meeting on the 13th!
8. Charging my favorite toy for the long drives to and from work every day

ROW 3
9. My first iTunes purchases, Flogging Molly and Revolution Mother.
10. My greeting when I get home at the end of a long day
11. My first bottle of wine post-braces and post-guilt and post-fear of staining my braces. I forgot how much I liked wine!
12. If ranch dressing and cheddar cheese weren't so darn fattening, I would definitely eat salad every day...

Next post will be about my new little niece Isabella, but for now, it's late and I'm ready for my nice warm bed!
